6 Year TV and Projector Guarantees from 28/6/2024

2024/6 EXTENDED TERMS & CONDITIONS OF A RICHER SOUNDS IRELAND 6 YEAR TV & PROJECTOR GUARANTEE OR A RICHER SOUNDS 6th YEAR GUARANTEE EXTENSION (V2024/6)

This guarantee is for Domestic Customers only

In the event of a failure of the product covered please follow this procedure:-

  1. Be sure you have checked your product fully by referring to the manufacturer's instruction booklet. Follow the instructions carefully to ensure the fault cannot be corrected by yourself. Failure to operate can often be due to simple circumstances such as the product not being switched on at the mains, being unplugged or a fuse blown in the plug. Also check that batteries (where appropriate) do not need replacing.

What is and isn’t covered under a television & projector extended guarantee?

Covered

  1. Home pick-up and delivery (TVs 39" and below and projectors are 'return to store').
  2. If the unit cannot be repaired we will offer credit vouchers taking into account age, condition and use as per the below scale (*titled usage scale).
  3. Issues such as pixel drop out, light bleed or screen uniformity will only be considered faults if outside manufacturers official tolerances
  4. Glasses supplied with your 3D TV will be covered for genuine faults or defects.
  5. Projector bulbs and/or laser optics will not be covered beyond the scope of the manufacturers' usual terms and shutdown procedures must have been followed according to the manufacturers' spec.

Agreement:

Richer Sounds Ireland agrees, subject to the following conditions and exceptions, to extend the guarantee for the product for the benefit of the named bearer within the duration of the extended guarantee which is valid in Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland only, the bearer will not be charged for repairs to, or replacement of, the extended guaranteed product(s) in the event of electrical or mechanical failure.

The Company’s liability and the settlement that is agreed to in vouchers is limited to, and shall not exceed, the current value of the item reflecting age, condition, specification and use/wear and tear.

Current value will be calculated taking into consideration the age, usage, condition and packaging of the product. If the item is in perfect condition with all packaging as new, having had reasonable use we suggest the value as follows:

*Usage scale:

During year One – full value
During year 2 – Original retail less 20%
During year 3 – Original retail less 30%
During year 4 – Original retail less 40%
During year 5 – Original retail less 50%
During year 6 - Original retail less 60%

Exceptions

This agreement does not cover

  1. Failures arising from or due to:
    1. The use of accessories that have not been approved by the manufacturer.
    2. The application of an incorrect or abnormal electrical supply or signal lead connection, defects in external wiring or in the electrical connection not forming part of the product covered.
    3. Negligent or wilful abuse or misuse of the product covered.
    4. Fire, flood, lightning, theft, explosion, or other causes external to the product covered.
    5. Scratching or denting or from the direct application of a tool.
    6. Accidental damage.
    7. Any damage caused by tearing, scratching, chewing or fouling by animals or insects.
    8. Failure to comply with the manufacturer’s guidelines for general care, maintenance and cleaning (such as the regular removal and cleaning of filters on projectors or avoiding aerosol cleaners on screens and lenses).
    9. Remote controls.

  2. Costs for which the manufacturer, supplier or any other person may be held responsible under the terms of any existing guarantee or warranty.
  3. The costs of:
    1. Repairs to exterior paintwork/finishes, external fuses or wires, aerials (other than those which are an internal part of the equipment), cosmetic items i.e. knobs, loss or damage to trim etc.
    2. Repairs to components subject to wear and tear (such as bulbs for projectors).
    3. Repairs to loudspeaker drive units when, in the opinion of the manufacturers, such damage has been caused by overdriving and/or clipping distortion.

  4. Repairs carried out by anyone other than Richer Sounds or its authorised repairers.
  5. Loss of use of the product covered or consequential loss of any nature.
  6. Costs incurred in respect of the removal or reinstallation of equipment.
  7. Loss or damage occasioned by happening through or in consequence of war, invasion, act of foreign enemy hostilities (whether war be declared or not) civil war, rebellion, revolution or civil commotion.
  8. Destruction or damage to or loss of any property whatsoever or any loss or expense whatsoever resulting or arising therefrom or any consequential loss directly or indirectly caused by or contributed to by or arising from:
    1. lonising radiation, or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear fuel or from any nuclear waste from the combustion of nuclear fuel.
    2. Any radioactivity, toxic or explosive or other hazardous properties of any explosive nuclear assembly or nuclear component thereof.

  9. Screen burn caused by channel logos or other static images.
  10. Damage caused by tipping in transit.
  11. Loss, destruction or damage directly occasioned by pressure waves caused by aircraft and other aerial devices travelling at supersonic speeds. This agreement does not affect your statutory rights.
  12. The cost of modifying any cupboards or storage units and work surface where the product is built in which have become obsolete upon provision to you of a replacement product.
  13. Individual applications or features on SMART products, and their continued operation are not covered by this guarantee, as manufacturers of the product or providers of the 'apps' reserve the right to update, modify or remove support entirely.

Conditions

  1. All benefits under the agreement will cease if:
    1. If Richer Sounds have any reasonable grounds to believe that your claim is in any way dishonest or exaggerated, your claim and/or guarantee may become invalid and no refund of the cover, or any remaining terms of the cover will be offered.
    2. A fraudulent claim is made.
    3. The product covered is at any time used for the purposes other than exclusively private and domestic and installed on domestic premises. Commercial, professional or semi-professional use and use on commercial premises is specifically excluded.
    4. A cash settlement in lieu of repairs is made, or a faulty unit is exchanged for a different model.

  2. Settlement that is agreed in either cash or vouchers shall not exceed the current value of the screen or projector which is covered by the 6 Year TV & Projector Guarantee.
    Current value will be calculated taking into consideration the usage, condition, age and packaging of the product. If the item is in perfect condition with all packaging as new, having had reasonable use we suggest the value as per our voucher usage scale.
  3. If the Company or its authorised repairer considers the product covered to be beyond economic repair, the Company may at its option replace the product or pay to the named person an agreed sum in lieu thereof, taking into consideration the usage and age of the product. The cost of replacing a part destroyed or damaged or no longer available shall not exceed the manufacturer’s last published price of the part.
  4. If the Company accepts there is a claim under this agreement, but there is a disagreement in respect of the amount to be paid then the matter will be referred to an Arbitrator appointed in accordance with current statutory provisions. The Arbitrator must make an award before there is any right of action against the Company.
  5. Guarantee applies in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland only.
6 Year TV Guarantees prior to 28.06.2024:

EXTENDED TERMS & CONDITIONS OF A RICHER SOUNDS 6 YEAR TV & PROJECTOR GUARANTEE OR A RICHER SOUNDS 6 YEAR GUARANTEE EXTENSION

What is and isn’t covered under a television & projector extended guarantee?

Covered
1. Full parts and labour.
2. Home pick up and delivery (TVs under 39" and projectors are return to store).
3. If the unit cannot be repaired we will replace with a suitable model.
4. Pixel drop out as per the manufacturer’s specification.
5. Glasses supplied with your 3D TV will be covered for genuine faults or defects, (but are not covered for any accidental damage or misuse)
6. Projector bulbs and/ or laser optics will not be covered beyond the scope of the manufacturers usual terms and shutdown procedures must have been followed according to the manufacturers spec.

7. This guarantee is only for personal / domestic use - Any commercial / corporate/ trade transactions are specifically excluded. 

 

Agreement:

Richer Sounds agrees, subject to the following conditions and exceptions, to extend the guarantee for the product for the benefit of the Customer within the duration of the extended guarantee which is valid in the UK & Ireland only, the Customer will not be charged for repairs to, or replacement of, the extended guaranteed product(s) in the event of electrical or mechanical failure. The Company’s liability is limited to the lower of the original purchase price of the product or its current value. (Current value means the cost of replacement of the product immediately prior to the time of failure with an item of similar age, specification and condition.)

Exceptions as listed on the certificate

This agreement does not cover
1. Failures arising from or due to:
a) Failure to comply with the manufacturer’s instructions for use, whether by the named or any other person. This includes failure to clean filters in the case of projectors; not doing this can cause overheating and/or dust ingress).
b) The use of accessories which have not been approved by the manufacturer.
c) The application of an incorrect or abnormal electrical supply or signal lead connection, defects in external wiring or in the electrical connection not forming part of the product covered.
d) Negligent or wilful abuse or misuse of the product covered.
e) Fire, flood, lightning, theft, explosion, or other causes external to the product covered.
f) Scratching or denting or from the direct application of a tool.
g) Accidental damage.
h) Richer Sounds will not cover any damage caused by tearing, scratching, chewing or fouling by animals or insects.
i) Failure to comply with the manufacturer’s guidelines for general care, maintenance and cleaning (such as the regular removal and cleaning of filters on projectors or avoiding aerosol cleaners on screens and lenses).
2. Costs for which the manufacturer, supplier or any other person may be held responsible under the terms of any existing guarantee or warranty.
3. The costs of:

8. Destruction or damage to or loss of any property whatsoever or any loss or expense whatsoever resulting or arising therefrom or any consequential loss directly or indirectly caused by or contributed to by or arising from:
a) lonising radiation, or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear fuel or from any nuclear waste from the combustion of nuclear fuel.
b) Any radioactivity, toxic or explosive or other hazardous properties of any explosive nuclear assembly or nuclear component thereof.

13. Individual applications or features on SMART products, and their continued operation are not covered by this guarantee, as manufacturers of the product or providers of the 'apps' reserve the right to update, modify or remove support entirely.

 

Exceptions not listed on certificate

1. Loan units are not supplied.

Conditions:

1. All benefits under the agreement will cease if:
a) If Richer Sounds have any reasonable grounds to believe that your claim is in any way dishonest or exaggerated, your claim and/or guarantee may become invalid and no refund of the cover, or any remaining terms of the cover will be offered.
b) A fraudulent claim is made.
c) The product covered is at any time used for the purposes other than exclusively private and domestic and installed on domestic premises. Commercial, professional or semi-professional use and use on commercial premises is specifically excluded - all trade sales are excluded from this guarantee.
d) A cash settlement in lieu of repairs is made, or a faulty unit is exchanged for a different model.
2. Refund or settlement that is agreed in either cash or vouchers shall not exceed the current retail value of the screen or projector which is covered by the 6 Year TV & Projector Guarantee.
3. We will use reasonable efforts to replace a screen or projector with a similar model. But at our discretion we may have to offer a different make or model which may vary in brand, model or features and functions.
4. Any replacement screen or projector will come from our available stock which may also include refurbished items.
5. If the Company or its authorised repairer considers the product covered to be beyond economic repair, the Company may at its option replace the product or pay to the named person an agreed sum in lieu thereof, taking into consideration the usage and age of the product and the current market price of a new replacement product. The cost of replacing a part destroyed or damaged or no longer available shall not exceed the manufacturer’s last published price of the part.
6. If the Company accepts there is a claim under this agreement, but there is a disagreement in respect of the amount to be paid then the matter will be referred to an Arbitrator appointed in accordance with current statutory provisions. The Arbitrator must make an award before there is any right of action against the Company.
7. Following settlement of a total loss claim the agreement expires.
8. Guarantee applies in the UK and Ireland only.

Please note you have the right to cancel your policy at any time up to 45 days from the date of purchase.

Please also note that after the 45 day period, providing no claim has been made, you have the right to terminate your contract at any time and receive a pro-rata refund. Should you wish to cancel/terminate your policy, simply return your certificate to your local store. 6 Year Guarantees must be claimed within 12 months of purchase of your item.

 

 

 

 

6 YEAR CHARGEABLE HI-FI, AV AND SPEAKER GUARANTEE / GUARANTEE EXTENSION TERMS & CONDITIONS

This guarantee is for Domestic Customers only

Failure to operate can often be due to simple circumstances such as the product not being switched on at the mains, being unplugged or a fuse blown in the plug. Also check that batteries (where appropriate) do not need replacing.
2. Contact your nearest Richer Sounds Ireland service department
service@richersounds.ie , who will advise you of the returns procedure. Subject to the conditions and exceptions of cover, your repair will be carried out free of charge.

Agreement:

Richer Sounds Ireland agrees, subject to the following conditions and exceptions, to extend the guarantee for the product(s) for the benefit of the original purchaser within the duration of the 6 Year Hi-Fi, AV and Speaker Guarantee, which is valid in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland only, the bearer will not be charged for repairs to, or replacement of, the extended guaranteed product(s) in the event of electrical or mechanical failure. Richer Sounds Ireland also agrees to provide free servicing of your product(s) at any time within the guaranteed period (ask for details).

The Company's liability is limited to the lower of the original purchase price of the product or its current value. (Current value means the cost of replacement of the product immediately prior to the time of failure with an item of similar age, specification and condition.)

Conditions:

1. All benefits under the agreement will cease if:
a) A fraudulent claim is made.
b) The product covered is at any time used for the purposes other than exclusively private and domestic. Commercial, professional or semi-professional use and use on commercial premises is specifically excluded.
c) A cash settlement in lieu of repairs is made, or a faulty unit is exchanged for a different model.
2. If the Company or its authorised repairer consider the product covered to be beyond economic repair, the Company may at its option replace the product or pay to the named person an agreed sum in lieu thereof. d) Negligent or wilful abuse or misuse of the product covered.
e) Fire, flood, lightning, theft, explosion, or other causes external to the product covered.
f) Scratching or denting or from the direct application of a tool.
g) Accidental damage.
2. Costs for which the manufacturer, supplier or any other person may be held responsible under the terms of any existing guarantee or warranty.
3. The costs of:
a) Repairs to exterior paintwork/finishes, external fuses or wires, aerials (other than those which are an internal part of the equipment), bulbs, cosmetic items i.e. knobs, loss or damage to trim etc.
b) Delivery or collection of product(s) taken to a Richer Sounds store for repair.
c) Repairs to components subject to wear and tear, e.g. styli/batteries.
d) Repairs to loudspeaker drive units when, in the opinion of the manufacturers, such damage has been caused by overdriving and/or clipping distortion.
4. Repairs carried out by anyone other than Richer Sounds or its authorised repairers.
5. Loss of use of the product covered or consequential loss of any nature.
6. Costs incurred in respect of the removal or reinstallation of equipment.
7. Loss of damage occasioned by happening through or in consequence of war, invasion, act of foreign enemy hostilities (whether war be declared or not) civil war, rebellion, revolution or civil commotion.
8. Destruction or damage to or loss of any property whatsoever or any loss or expense whatsoever resulting or arising there from or any consequential loss directly or indirectly caused by or contributed to by or arising from:
a) Ionising radiation, or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear fuel or from any nuclear waste from the combustion of nuclear fuel.
b) Any radioactivity, toxic or explosive or other hazardous properties of any explosive nuclear assembly or nuclear component thereof.
c) Biological and chemical attack.
9. Damage caused by the equipment to tapes, discs, hard drives or any other type of software or data storage device.
10. Loss, destruction or damage directly occasioned by pressure waves caused by aircraft and other aerial devices travelling at supersonic speeds.
11. Plasma screens, LCD monitors, televisions, projectors, tablet PCs and portables.
12. Individual applications or features on SMART products, and their continued operation are not covered by our 6 Year Hi-Fi, AV and Speaker Guarantee as manufacturer's of the product or provider's of the 'apps' reserve the right to update, modify or remove support entirely.

This agreement does not affect your statutory rights.

Richer Sounds Ireland agrees on production of a valid proof of purchase to refund the original Guarantee cost within 30 days of its termination date, provided the covered unit has not been repaired or serviced under the terms of the Guarantee agreement (stamped redeemed), and that the unit has not been returned to Richer Sounds for exchange or refund.

These terms are not valid for our 6 Year TV & Projector Guarantees.

Please note you have the right to cancel your policy at any time up to 45 days from the date of purchase.

Please also note that after the 45 day period, providing no claim has been made, you have the right to terminate your contract at any time and receive a pro-rata refund. Should you wish to cancel/terminate your policy, simply return your certificate to your local store. Our 6 Year Hi-Fi, AV and Speaker Guarantee must be claimed within 12 months of purchase of your item.
