Peter Comeau, now leading Mission's Acoustic Design designed the new 700 to bear a striking resemblance to the original - but Peter has included the many complex innovations and improvements that bring the revered original 700 bang up to date.
Precise, accurate sound
Mission have developed a new polypropylene bass/midrange driver and a model specific motor system. This upgrades the new 700 integral design taking into account modern power handling demands and dynamic requirements. The design also maintains the excellent response and low colouration benefits of the original 700 - leading to a class-leading loudspeaker in today's gathering of top-quality bookshelf speakers. .
Smooth design – available in two different finishes
The form factor remains true to the original, whenever possible - This includes hand-applied, rich, rose tinted walnut or real black wood veneers and that iconic retro inspired luxurious laminated white-front baffle. The new 700 incorporates some serious improvements that may be less visible, the new 700 cabinet a sandwich construction of differing woods bonded by a layer of damping adhesive. Internal bracing is also massively uprated to improve strength and support and a mix of foam and long hair fibre provides enhanced resonance and reflection absorption.
